Those San Antonio gals are a riot! This is a great show - lots of vendors, and everybody pretty much eats, lives, and sleeps beads. For more info about the show, click here. And, don't forget to check out the wide variety of classes being offered - I'm wishing I could take Theresa's. Do you think maybe a set of beads would get me a private lesson????
Well, yes, I'm taking a class from somebody whose name I can't pronounce, and whose language I don't speak. Should be a riot, right? LOL. Mr. Ohkama is from Japan, and is bringing along a translator. We'll be using Japanese Satake glass, as well as traditional Japanese torches. As you can see from the picture, they point straight up, rather than projecting outwards like the more traditional torches. Satake glass is apparently very VERY soft, so I am already wondering what's going to happen when a big ol' blob falls off into the torch....poor Molly. UPDATE - I just found out this is the same weekend as the Houston Bead Society Show, which I usually do, so I'm on the horns of a dilemma here....this is gonna require some thought.....
This will be my third class with Andrea - she keeps telling me that someday I'll get it right...really, she's too much fun to take a class with, and again I just can't wait!
Ever wonder why bead shows are always called "bazaars?" I thought maybe it was it's pretty close to "bizarre," which sums up most of the bead people I know (yes, myself included). But, looked it up and it comes from a Persian word, bazar, meaning market. Anyway, I'll be at this one.....
