rants & raves

Want to buy patterns in person? I do three bead shows a year - but all in Texas...e-mail me for details.

YES - you CAN make these patterns. My instructions are clear, well-written, and tested. In fact, most of the instructions have been used LIVE in a classroom setting. And, you are always welcome to e-mail with questions - or suggestions for improvement.

Before lampwork, my love was seed beads. Tiny, glistening pieces of glass just waiting to be stitched together. I still love seed beads, and work with them as often as I can. After all, you can't torch and watch TV, and you probably shouldn't drink beer and torch, BUT you can drink while watching TV while beading. What a deal! Read below for how to select a pattern suited to you, and follow the navigation bar on the lower left to pick the type (e.g., bracelet, necklace, etc.) you want to make.

There are a couple of ways to purchase and pay.

  • Click the ADD TO CART button, which will transfer you directly to PayPal.
  • Or, if you prefer not to use PayPal, call me 512-447-3795 to order. I'll need the name of the pattern(s) you want to order, your credit card number, expiration date, and your address for mailing. I accept Mastercard and Visa.SPEAK CLEARLY AND DISTINCTLY, PLEASE.
  • You may also pay by check or money order - just e-mail for a snail mail address.

Because I am indeed a total idiot, and upgraded to Windows Vista already, I can't, at this time, send you the pattern in PDF. If you have Microsoft PowerPoint, I can e-mail you the instructions, or, of course, send them by snail mail. I'll have this situation resolved as soon as there's a compatible PDF write program that Vista won't belch.

Yellow Dog Beads

and

Patterns!

Keys (or paws!) to success....

First, I want to say that ANY of my patterns can be made by a motivated beginner....or by someone who's "crafty" in general, but has little beading experience. Who's a "motivated beginner?" YOU know who you are...all that being said, each pattern is rated as follows:

THREE PAWS
The most challenging patterns I offer. But, what makes a pattern challenging? That's a bit in the eye of the beader, so to speak. In other words, just because I found it challenging doesn't mean that you will. I consider the pattern to be more difficult because it has more complex construction, and more or more difficult stitches, or for any combination of reasons. It's just my guestimate....
TWO PAWS
A bit more challenging. The pattern is more difficult primarily because it combines stitches in unique, precise (and maybe unusual) ways, not because the stitches themselves are difficult (see Three Paws below). Motivated beginners will probably get good results, but will probably be a challenge for most new beaders, and maybe even for more experienced beaders who are limited on patience. Not good for those who want things in an instant.
ONE PAW
This is a good pattern for beginners. Even if you're brand new to the world of beading, you should do okay. This does not mean that more advanced beaders won't enjoy the project. One of my most popular bracelet patterns, Instant Flower Garden, is very simple, but gets WOWS! from everybody.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Beading is known to be highly addictive. One pattern may not be enough. Before long you'll be buying beading magazines, books, and trolling the internet to score new sources of all things bead....you may start feeding your family the cheaper hamburger because it means more money for beads. Sorry, the government requires me to provide this disclaimer. So don't say you weren't warned.....
What do you want to make?
